Thomas Alvarado:

I began tattooing in 2003 under the watchful eye of renowned artist, Megan Hoogland in Mankato, MN.

Early on I gravitated toward traditional Japanese tattooing (Horimono) as well as bold, colorful Americana. In my opinion, these two styles along with collaborations between the two seem to last the test of time and never “go out of style”.

I consider myself to be a student of the craft. I study, draw and paint continuously in an effort to better understand my chosen path. Referencing from true masters, such as Hokusai, Horiyoshi II, Horiyoshi III and Ed Hardy, I hope to somehow add to this great lineage as time passes. I believe strong drawing and design are the foundation of a good tattoo. I try to breathe life into my work and give it a certain energy. It is my hope that someone would easily recognize my work from across the room.

When I am not working, I like to spend time with my wife and kids. Living in beautiful Portland, OR, we try to go on as many outdoor adventures as we can.
